SAPORI E ARTIGIANATO
Ancient traditions that have been passed down for centuries, for a journey which combines art and flavours in a surprising manner. From a wild and generous land and sea comes the precious food which makes Sulcis Iglesiente a veritable mine for gourmands. Tuna, the prince of the table and protagonist of the Girotonno of Carloforte, oil, which has received numerous national awards, pecorino and artichokes, asphodelus honey, thistle and chestnut: intense flavours to enjoy with a glass of ruby red Carignano DOC from Sulcis, a tendril introduced by the Phoenicians, and a rich bouquet of cooked prunes, dry fruit and marascas. Knives, jewels, carpets and tapestries: works of art made by hand by skilled craftsmen, guardians of ancient and precious traditions for working metals and precious spun yarns.
Sant'Antioco is the only place in the world which passes down the long and difficult workmanship of the byssus, the precious sea silk which is secreted by a mollusc that is now on the verge of extinction. The figures of Sardinian iconography decorate the tapestries and carpets of Villamassargia and Giba, that are patiently produced using ancient pedal techniques. From Sulcis Iglesiente's wealth of mines stems the noble art of knife production. And everywhere, the value of the hospitality of our artisans who are always ready to welcome you to their homes.
